Idaho Sheriff's Labor Detail

SLD stands for the Sheriff's Labor Detail, sometimes also known as the Sheriff's Inmate Labor Detail (SILD). This is a work crew overseen by the Sheriff's Office made up of low risk offenders who choose to performs public labor rather than serving their sentence actually in jail. SLD workers do not spend the night in jail. After the workday, they return to their homes. In Ada County, one day of SLD counts as one day of jail.

SLD crew worked more than 112,000 hours in the community last year, saving taxpayers about $812,000 in wages.
